A Chatham Island skink sets out across Rēkohu wondering what makes him who he is and where his family might be. Along the way he encounters some of the rare birds, fish, mammals and other creatures that live on the Chatham Islands, discovering the characteristics that make each one different.

Kate Preece’s rhyming story is paired with detailed watercolour illustrations by Pippa Ensor, with wildlife facts woven through the pages. It brings together a story about belonging with an introduction to some of the distinctive animals of Rēkohu and Rangihaute.
