Truman Capote brings together Christmas stories that move between the warmth of childhood memories and more unsettling winter encounters. In the American South, young Buddy and his beloved aunt Sook gather ingredients for fruitcakes, make homemade kites and find their own ways to celebrate when money is scarce. Elsewhere, Capote turns to a curious drugstore encounter, a girl dreaming of Hollywood and a lonely woman in New York.
