Chance Encounters gathers David Zinn’s temporary street drawings into a book that lets their strange little characters last longer than the pavement they were drawn on. Working with chalk, charcoal and found features such as cracks, weeds and drains, Zinn turns ordinary streets into playful scenes that seem to open into another world.

Key features

  • Features street drawings created in locations around the world.
  • Shows how Zinn works with existing surfaces and street details rather than treating the pavement as a blank canvas.
  • Includes familiar recurring characters alongside a wide range of one-off creatures and visual jokes.
